Dear Friend

The resurrection experience defines the ultimate Christian victory. Easter reminds us of better news.

Our Easter services this weekend focuses on the REMEMBRANCE, and the WORSHIP of Him who died for the forgiveness of MY sin. Here at Harvest Douala, we meet on, Sunday at 9:30 – 11:30 A.M.

Harvest Douala takes a break of our current series ENDURANCE, and we will come back to it for the last part after Easter. This week has been a wonderful week with our youth ministry camping and doing ministry together. They have been thrilled with extra biblical teachings on carrier orientation and the learning small commercial activities.

We are praying for you as you shout the glory and praise of Jesus. Visit and invite your friends and loved ones to Worship with us at Harvest Douala as we rejoice in Christ’s Victory!

You are loved,
Ebua Kum
Senior PASTOR

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in joining the family of Harvest Bible Chapel, Douala – Cameroon! This is an important decision and we encourage you to make it carefully with lots of prayer. In making this decision you agree with our vision, which is; “To glorify God by making disciples” based on our Four Pillars. By entering into this covenant with us, you are saying you will Worship, Walk, and Work for Christ with us as your church family. We are happy to be in partnership with you as we honour Jesus Christ together.

Membership Says…

I belong here. And God says that believers belong together (Hebrews 10:23-25). I sense that God wants me here with the people of Harvest Bible Chapel at this time in my walk with Christ, and I want to make a public declaration that I am committed to God’s work through this church.
I affirm, believe, and support the teaching of this church. And God says the believers had all things in common including devotion to the Apostles’ teaching (Acts 2:42-47). I desire to associate with people of like mind and conviction and embrace the authority of God’s Word in my life and the life of the church.
I share the same ministry goals as Harvest. And God says that believers are to be committed to one another for the sake of spiritual impact (Ephesians 4:16). I believe that Jesus has a work to do in Fort Wayne and around the world, and I am willing to join with others who have the same vision to see that it gets done.
I accept responsibility for a group of fellow believers in the family of God. And that is God’s plan as well (Galatians 6:1-2, 10). I want to be part of a caring network of people, sharing one another’s joys and sorrows, and helping one another grow through worship, Bible study, and fellowship.
I am accountable to mature brothers and sisters in Christ for my walk with God. And God warns against spiritual autonomy (Hebrews 13:17; Matthew 18:15-20). I want to receive the guidance, equipping, and assistance necessary to remain on target and I do not want to go it alone in standing for Jesus Christ.

Four Membership Covenants…

1. I have by faith become a follower of Jesus Christ and I have been baptised as a visible way of demonstrating that commitment.
2. Because a disciple worships Christ, I will attend and fully participate in weekend worship services at Harvest.
3. Because a disciple walks with Christ, I will seek to maintain consistent disciplines of Bible study, prayer, and personal witness. I will walk in fellowship with other believers at Harvest by participating in the Small Group ministry at some level. To maintain unity in fellowship, I will neither criticize nor listen to criticism concerning any member(s) of this body and will, when personally offended, speak directly and lovingly with those involved.
4. Because a disciple works for Christ, I will seek a place to serve with Harvest that corresponds with my spiritual gifts and passions. I will financially support the ministries of Harvest by faithfully giving back to the Lord a biblical portion of my increase.

Several may ask what it means to be, “first a vertical and then a Missional church.” I think I will call the church in the Bible a Vertical Church. That’s what we are going for, and from the very beginning it will be an experiment that asked these important questions:

• What if there was a church that believed God actually wrote a book called the Bible and that human souls were profoundly altered in hearing its truths proclaimed with passion and practicality, as the very words of God?

• What if there was a church that believed God was actually listening when we prayed, that He considered the pleas of His people when they cried out to Him from their hearts in faith and powerfully moved in people’s lives in response?

• What if there was a church that believed the fields are truly “ripe to harvest,” and that authentically being the hands and feet of Jesus to people in pain was far superior to seeing the gospel as a horizontal transaction of human persuasion and cultural understanding?

• What if there was a church where the people had as their first and most fervent focus, the adoration of God’s Son? Where worship was not part of the service or part of the week, but the consuming passion of the congregation and its leaders—not for themselves or even for the good feeling it brings, but truly for blessing the heart of God and inviting His presence in the midst of every ministry involvement?

Harvest Bible Chapel Douala is not all of those things, not perfectly, but it will help to remember what we are shooting for. We want to be a Vertical church. Just that. If we get the vertical right, the horizontal takes care of itself. People who are truly intimate with God the Father will have a genuine heart to transfer that love relationship to those around them. People who have God’s heart must have a heart for lost people. People who love the Word of God and seek to obey it will always have a powerful impact on the lost around them, and in their lives. YES! I believe it with all my heart and I am seeing it before my eyes. We want to make the focus and consuming passion of this church a vertical one, and the Missional elements of ministry will happen as naturally as breathing.

“Yes, when I, even I, the Son of Man am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all peoples to myself” (John 12:32).

“Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.” 2 Timothy 2:7

You ARE LOVED! – Pastor Ebua Kum,
